This week we investigated the idea of PARODY in artworks. We studied the iconic American artwork,  Grant Wood's 'American Gothic'. This oil painting was painted in 1930 and is now a very familiar piece of 20th Century American art.


We used a variety of techniques to produce versions of our American Gothic pictures. We drew the picture first using lead pencil on art paper. We are in the process of applying water colour paints. We are also creating a digital version of the picture using a number of apps. Take a look at Sophie's and Blake's  works in progress:
